Business and the Big Society
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for anyone interested in exploring how to adapt Big Society thinking to their organization. It is aimed primarily at business but has content applicable for public, not for profit organizations and social enterprises who wish to work with business on Big Society issues.
What are the aims?
This is an introduction to Big Society theory and practice.
By the end of the course, participants will:
- have an insight into Big Society thinking (defining Big Society and exploring the advantages, disadvantages, risks and opportunities)
- understand current practice linked to public sector reform, giving power to communities and encouraging social action
- explore how Big Society thinking may evolve and the potential for innovative thinking that could benefit your organisation
In the course of the day, participants will
- have an insight into the latest thinking and practice linked to Big Society
- debate and discuss individual and collaborative opportunities
- explore practical actions for your organisation
What is the specific content?
The course content includes an understanding of the Big Society ambitions of the government, the historical context, how it is being translated from an idea to action, the challenges and barriers to action and the emergence of new thinking and new innovations.
How is it structured?
This course is more discursive than other Social Marketing Academy courses. It includes information, debate, discussion, roundtables and practical exercises.
Who are the facilitators?
All Corporate Culture social marketing training is led by practitioners who base their advice on practical experience with live projects.
